Season 1, Episode 30: Guided Meditation #4 with Michael Neeley

In today’s guided meditation with Michael Neeley, you will be treated to conscious poetry from Carl Jung, Ed Brown, Victor Frankl, Jennifer Paine Welwood, and a surprise author.

Here are a few of the pieces that are included:

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart.
Who looks outside dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.

~ Carl Jung

Between stimulus and response, there is a space.
In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and freedom.

~ Victor Frankl

Now I take the time to peel potatoes, wash lettuce and boil beets,
to scrub floors, clean sinks, and empty trash.
Absorbed in the everyday, I find time to unbind, unwind,
to invite the whole body, mind, breath, thought, and wild impulse to join,
to bask in the task.
No time lost thinking that somewhere else is better.
No time lost imagining getting more elsewhere.
No way to tell this moment does not measure up.
Hand me the spatula: now is the time to taste what is.

~ Ed Brown

Season 1, Episode 29: Steven Morrison – The Spiritual Workout

Today’s guest is Steven Morrison. Steven is a man obsessed with using higher consciousness to solve problems because it absolutely works.  He holds a Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling and is a licensed psychotherapist (M.F.T.) in the great state of California.

During that multi-year extravaganza of a process, Steven kept asking himself “Who am I?”, “What is this life about?”, and “What the hell am I supposed to be doing with mine?” He started reading a number of New Age, self-help, and personal development books, going to workshops and seminars, listening to audio lectures and before long it seemed clear that they were all pretty much saying the same things.  He then reduced what they were saying to a collection he now simply calls The Concepts.

Putting those concepts to use in his own life enabled him to experience deep and meaningful changes.  So he began to bring the concepts into his work with his clients until his entire psychotherapy practice revolved around those 15 ideas.  Eventually, he voluntarily gave up his license to practice psychotherapy, as his more evolutionary practice, the Spiritual Workout was born.

He can be found at www.SpiritualWorkout.com.

Season 1, Episode 26: Roger Miller – Mind Body Awareness Project

Today, I have the honor of interviewing Roger Miller, the Executive Director of the Mind Body Awareness Project (aka MBA Project) whose mission is to help youth transform harmful behavior and live meaningful lives through mindfulness meditation and emotional awareness.

Founded in 2000, MBA designs, delivers, and researches mindfulness and emotional literacy programs for youth-at-risk. MBA also trains educators and youth service providers both nationally and internationally.

Roger has studied meditation for over 12 years and his daily meditation practice informs his work and leadership style. He thinks deeply about class, race and privilege and acts wherever possible to challenge the systems that reinforce that privilege. Roger also currently serves on the Leadership Sangha (Board of Directors) of the East Bay Meditation Center.

The Mind Body Awareness Project can be found at www.MBAProject.org.

Season 1, Episode 19: Greg Richardson – Strategic Monk & Coach

Have you ever met a Strategic Monk? In today’s episode, Greg Richardson joins me to talk about his strategic approach to spirituality. Greg is a Spiritual Leadership Coach that helps people learn and strengthen a specific set of skills and abilities to develop a particular part of their lives.

Much of what Greg does as a leadership coach begins with guiding people as they bring their core values, principles, and inner strengths to bear on matters of work and leadership. He knows that leadership begins with knowing and sharing your truest self. He has been a leader in a wide variety of situations and organizations. As a criminal prosecutor and a university professor, an executive and a volunteer, he has helped bring out the best in the people around him.

Early on, Greg decided to give himself an incentive. If he met one of his main goals, he would get his first tattoo. It took him some time to decide what he would get. He considered some options, then chose his favorite story of the Desert Mothers and Fathers. These people who left the comforts of cities to live in the wilderness, planted the seeds of Western monasticism.

You can learn more about Greg and what he has to offer at www.StrategicMonk.com, and if you are interested, Greg would be very happy to show you his tattoo.

Season 1, Episode 18: Nancy Thiel Voogd – Triple Spiral Labyrinth Coach

Today’s guest is Nancy Thiel Voogd, a Triple Spiral Labyrinth expert, an author, and a dear friend. Nancy’s ability to deeply listen, hold stillness, and speak for the labyrinth creates a powerful experience for all those who walk it or commission one on their land. She delights in sharing the triple spiral and is continually amazed as the labyrinth awakens people to what they most want to know and experience.

Nancy is also one of the featured authors in the newly released, Unwavering Strength: Volume 2, Stories to Warm Your Heart and Soul (get it on Amazon.com on February 24, 2015). Her talent doesn’t stop there, though, as she has also recently created and released her new Self-Discovery Deck, which is available at www.SpiralVision.com.

You can usually find Nancy in her home in the Santa Cruz mountains with a bright yellow door welcoming visitors, a magical pond her husband built out front, the labyrinth beckoning from behind, and the smells of fresh food and live music wafting from the rafters.
